Large increase in production volumes of organic meat in North America expected to drive market growth.
by Anonymous

December 1 2003--Research and Markets announces the addition of this exciting new report on The North American Market for Organic Meat Products to its offerings.

The market for organic meat products is to show accelerated growth from 2004 onwards. Although organic meat products currently represent a fraction of total organic food sales in North America, a large rise in production volume and strategic collaborations between companies, are to drive market growth. The organic beef market is to show the highest increase.

American farmers have traditionally shown low interest in organic meat production. The late introduction of government regulations for the labeling of organic meat products and high production costs, are responsible for most organic meat to be produced on a small-scale. The industry is highly fragmented with most sales occurring regionally. The lack of distribution infrastructure also causes significant volume of organic beef and pork to be sold as non-certified organic meat products.

Organic meat producers are entering strategic alliances to overcome these industry challenges. Companies are strengthening supply chains between farmers and retailers and this is encouraging organic meat producers to raise production volume. Consumer interest in organic meat products is also rising due to the BSE scare and growing concern over food safety. The organic meat category is to expand considerably in the coming years because of these factors.

This report analyses the major product segments in the North American organic meat products market. Market sizes (volumes & revenues), growth forecasts (2004-2010), and market trends are provided for the key product segments. It also gives profiles of the leading organic meat companies & retailers, as well as information on pricing, distribution, marketing channels, and consumer behavior.
